First of all, Happy New Year! Did you and your family set yourself any New Year’s resolutions?

We have promised ourselves to make more memories as a family when he’s home from his FIFO job. Play more board games, go on more mini-vacations around WA and also plan a surprise 30th to NZ for my hubby. We’re going to start trying for baby #2 at some stage this year so that’s another goal of ours to get our bodies healthy and ready to welcome new life. I have also promised myself to be kinder to myself and to not let negativity online consume my thoughts. I have so much support online and so much genuine love that I’m going to start working on pushing out the trolls!

What inspired you to start journaling your thoughts, experiences and tips online? Looking back now, is there anything you would change?

I have been on Instagram for five years. It started off as a creative outlet for me, being super creative with my photos. Following mainly photography accounts or Instagram pages that heat competition and photo themes. It then went onto a different kind of journey. Every stage of my life, I documented and the people who could relate to that stage followed along.

Building a house, getting engaged, planning a wedding, trying for a baby, and most recently motherhood. Each journey has opened my mind up more and I’ve loved writing about each stage. It’s comforting to know that we aren’t alone in life when it comes to the things I write about. I love sharing my experiences but also love sharing the things I love buying and also providing generous discounts to my loyal following. People put their trust in me to share what I truly care about and would either dress myself in or put on Alaska. So, it’s important to me to share the truth and to stay honest in my content.

As a mother, wife and owner of a hugely popular blog, it is difficult to find balance and still make time for yourself?

Extremely hard. The one thing I’ve always been honest about is that my feed is mainly curated, meaning it’s styled and thought out. I try to stay as positive online as possible and use humour to make people smile. My aim is to keep my content light-hearted.  After all, we all have so much crap going on in our own lives.

One thing I personally don’t like is scrolling online to read negativity after negativity. Instagram is an escape for me, so my feed and content are for the people who feel the same way. Sometimes I’ll rant or show a candid image, but it’s rare and it’s purely to show that I am only human and my life is far from perfect.

I’m lucky to be able to work from home and still be a full-time mama to Alaska. What you see online is only snippets of our days. Some of the negativity I’ve received from “trolls” is that they believe I should “get off my phone and actually be a mum to Alaska”. But the beauty of being an influencer, content creator, and blogger is that I don’t have to go into an office for an 8 hour day, 40 hours a week. I’m spending ALL of my time with Alaska and working with her during the day. It’s a lot of fun and I’m so so grateful to be able to do it.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome since launching Miss Kyree Loves?

Trolls. They are the nastiest creatures that have ever roamed this earth. But this year I’m focusing on ignoring the bastards and being grateful for the positive people surrounding me. I think as any account grows bigger, the trolls seem to come hand in hand. It’s how we as influencers deal with them that makes us successful. I’ve learnt to not give into them or to give them airtime. I’d rather promote the good than to cry over nasty words. If anything the trolls have only made me more determined to do better, be better and to keep on growing MKL.

Do you have any advice for any young mother’s out there who are thinking about sharing their own thoughts and experiences online?

The online community can be very supportive. I recently asked my followers to tell me what their struggles were and for others to leave encouraging comments back. I had over two thousand people pour their hearts out online with strangers leaving love and kindness.

I think if you feel that sharing your life is right, then jump into the deep and be honest with every aspect you choose to talk about. Some people find it way too intrusive but that’s ok too. Just remember, growing your account involves a lot of hard work, a lot of hours engaging with others. Success doesn’t happen overnight. Don’t give up and keep on writing if it’s something you’re passionate about.
